I thought I’d start this morning off with a little throwback to how this whole thing started. I wanna tell you why we created Club Kindness and what cannabis means in our lives, particularly mine… Mskindness.
A little over three and a half years ago, I had an accident. A bad one. I slipped and fell on a puddle in a grocery store. At the time, I was 26 weeks pregnant with our second bundle of joy so you can imagine the horror and fear that encompassed our family in that moment. It wasn’t an immediately debilitating fall, but the way in which my legs split, later became a major factor in my injuries. Within days I was in triage, hooked to a fetal monitor, in horrible pain. My pelvic joints were on fire and my left hip became a constant source of traumatic pain. Baby was okay though, and that’s all that mattered.
So what happens when you’re 26 weeks pregnant and you fall down, thereby causing a pelvic condition and severe pain? Well, I’ll tell you. The Medical Doctors tell you to take pain pills! They must have prescribed me every “safe during pregnancy” pain pill and muscle relaxer imaginable. None of which I liked to take, all coming with horrible side effects and implications for the baby.
Luckily, I’m a very assertive person. Doh! Because I took no issue with requesting alternative care. I received physical therapy, massage and acupuncture to manage the pain during the remainder of my pregnancy. And while it didn’t alleviate the pain completely, it made it bearable without meds.
So let’s fast forward a bit… Pain continues, I’m put on bed rest, baby comes 6 weeks early! Not good. After I have our daughter (who is beautiful and healthy btw) I begin to experience more hip pain and numbness and tingling in my extremities. DAMN! Docs had hoped that after delivery, my pelvis would go back to normal and everything would be like a bad memory. NOT!
By now, you’ve probably figured out where Club Kindness fits into this. Yes! I found the remedy for my pain with Cannabis!
I had been a “recreational” smoker since early adulthood, but I had minimized it to being a tool for relaxation and having a good time. I’m a pretty cerebral person all the time, so I enjoyed the relaxation of the mind that smoking cannabis provided. And although I believed cannabis was a cure for many of society’s ailments, I had never used it with the intention of healing myself. I began to do research. I found out that eating cannabis, particularly those strains with a higher CBD (Cannabidiol, we can talk about that another day) content, can help to relieve or even alleviate pain. It wasn’t long before I started developing different “canna-foods” and using them exclusively for my pain management. It is truly a miracle plant!
Time went on and I perfected my craft, until finally settling on my favorite products: Cannabis Tinctures (these are the best ladies!), Cannahoney (on a cold morning in an English Breakfast Tea. #yummy), and “Bud”der (spread on toast with jam. Yup! I did that).
What can I say? I’m an elixir kind of gal.
Now, anyone who knows me, knows that I’m an entrepreneur from the core, so of course it was a natural step for me to take this public. I love what I do, I love how it has helped me and I have to share that with others. Club Kindness was born! A CA based not-for-profit collective. First intended to be a boutique MMJ delivery service, now developing a full elixir line to share with other dispensaries throughout California. I am passionate about the medicine delivery through organic foods and ingredients. I believe in what cannabis can do for the world and I support a community in which it can be used freely.
I’m still managing my pain, and the docs are trying to find the stupid nerve causing my numbness, but I’m blessed! I have found the medicine from God to help me on a daily basis and this medicinal herb is working inside my body to heal ailments I don’t even know are there. I get to share my creations with others and spread my message of Kindness throughout. What a gift!
